Music Ministry
PURPOSE: To equip and encourage the body of Christ to worship by the singing of psalms, hymns and spiritual songs and to use the gift of music to communicate the truth of the gospel to all who hear it.
The vision and goal of the Music Ministry at Lakeview Baptist Church is simply Worship. We believe that music is a means that God has given us to enhance our worship of him. We believe that our musicians and singers have a much greater responsibility than just playing an instrument, teaching a class or singing for our weekly services. All of the people involved in the music ministry are encouraged to spend time daily with God and are encouraged to use their gifts in worship and personal testimony. We believe that it is the responsibility of our music teams to create an environment where people feel a freedom to worship God without hindrances. Our vision is to display an environment where people feel an acceptance and are encouraged to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. He is the reason we sing!
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir sings for the 11:00am worship every week. They also sing for revivals and special evening services. This group is made up of singers of various ages. The choir presents special musicals each year at Christmas, Easter and other special occasions during the year. Choir members are not just singers; they are worship leaders leading the congregation in praises to God. Time is spent finding ways that the choir can use their various gifts to lead in worship; this might include drama, dramatic readings, solos or other forms of the arts. The Chancel choir is open to all who would like to use their gift of music and singing to bless the Lord and His people. The choir spends time regularly in fellowship and prayer. Choir rehearsals are at 7:30pm every Wednesday evening. Come and join us!
Youth Ensemble
The Youth Ensemble is made up of students, grades 9-12 that want to use their gifts to play instruments and sing. They lead in youth music functions and sing on a regular schedule in worship services at the church. Their music is up beat and alive. Each youth involved is encouraged to spend time daily with God so that he can be seen, not only in their singing and playing, but also in their daily lives. They are learning to use their skills in leading worship.
Grades 1-5
Our Goal:
- To provide valuable spiritual experiences
- To train children in music fundamentals
- To allow children the opportunity to praise the Lord and worship through using their gifts of music.
Hand Bells
Hand Bells are beautiful instruments. They carry wonderful tones that lead us to worship through the gift of instrumental music. This group learns to play hymns and worship songs. They also play for worship services at special times throughout the year. This group allows people who may not feel that singing is their gift to praise God through the discipline of playing and instrument.
Cherub Choir(Ages 4-6)
Preschoolers enjoy music by playing instruments, singing songs and moving to music. They learn basic music fundamentals and learn songs that will enhance their spiritual and mental growth. This choir meets every Wednesday evening during the school year at 6:30pm. The teachers take a personal interest in the children and want to help them grow in their daily walk with the Lord.
